- The Oatkan Knights definitely weren't looking past the Redskins towards
next week's matchup with unbeaten Bishop Kearney as Nick Egeling ran
for 155 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, Jon Pierce and Tom Kelso
also added two touchdown runs apiece and Le Roy opened up a 32-0 lead
on the way to a 53-13 rout of the home Canisteo-Greenwood Redskins.
Pierce finished with 79 yards on just eight carries, Kelso had 72 yards
on nine totes and the Oatkan Knights ran for 362 yards as a team.
Not to be outdone, quarterback Mike McMullen was 10-of-16 for 210 yards
and three touchdowns; Ryan McQuillen had four catches for 116 yards.
Kelso and Egeling each had short touchdown runs in the first quarter
as Le Roy went up 12-0. Kelso would add a five-yard score and Pierce
would get into the action with a 16-yard run to make it 26-0 before
McQuillen found Kelso from 10 yards out for his first score of the game
to make it 32-0.
Up 39-7 at the half after a Jake Henry score on a 5-yard pass from McMullen,
Pierce would add a 7-yard run in the third quarter to make it 46-7;
McQuillen would add a 41-yard touchdown catch later in the third.
McQuillen added seven tackles and two interceptions and Kody Lamkin
had seven tackles, one for a loss, as Le Roy moved to 5-0; Canisteo-Greenwood
fell to 3-2.
