Most football players would be satisfied rushing for 300 yards in a game just once in their career. Ian Humphrey decided to go for two such games. In breaking his personal record set earlier in the season against Bath, Ian rushed for 320 yards and scored three touchdowns. These yards would come against a tough HF-L defense as LeRoy posted their eighth victory of the season without a loss, 35-9. This game was a lot closer than the score indicates as the Knights wore down the Cougar defense, putting up 22 points in the 4th quarter.

Taking the opening kickoff, the Knights faced a 4th-and-1 from their 40. Travis Fenstermaker hit Kory Cosimeno in the flats for 7 yards to move the chains. Later in the drive, HF-L stops Ian Humphrey for no gain on 4th down, stopping the LR drive.

Three plays later, Jamie Storms recovers an HF-L fumble, giving the Jr. Knights excellent field position at their 45. Immediately, Ian Humhprey picks up 11 on 1st down. On 2nd-and-10, Mike Humphrey makes one of his many spectacular grabs of the night. Outleaping his opponent, Mike hauls in the 15 yarder from Fenstermaker. Not to be outdone by his brother, Ian runs for 17 yards down to the HF-L 12. Following 4 more touches by the Humphrey brothers, Greg Elmore bulls his way in from 1 yard out for the LeRoy TD. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT. LeRoy 7-0 with 52 ticks left in the 1st quarter.

The Knights' defense forces a 3-and-out. Mike Humphrey`s 18-yard punt return takes the ball into
Cougar territory at the 45. Reaching the 24, the Knights are stopped on a 4th-and-4 with another drive ending on downs.

On 3rd-and-2 for the host Cougars, LeRoy's Josh Risewick breaks up the pass forcing another 3-and-out. Mike Humphrey returns the Cougar punt for 22 yards to give the Knights good field position at the HF-L 44.

On 2nd down, Ian Humphrey runs 31 yards down to the HF-L 9 setting up a 1st-and-goal. Two Elmore runs moves the pigskin to the one. The Cougar defense makes another stand, stopping Fenstermaker and Humphrey on successive plays for no gain.

With 4:35 left in the 1st half, the Knights needed to force another HF-L 3-and-out to get the ball back in good field position, but the Cougar offense started to move the ball. Facing a 3rd-and-3 from the 8, the HF-L QB completes a 4-yard pass for the 1st down. Two more 1st downs out to the 44 and all of a sudden the Cougars were thinking about notching a score before the half, instead of running out the clock. Mike Humphrey and Kory Cosimeno break up passes before Elmore stops the runner for a 3-yard loss. Mike Humphrey fields the Cougar punt as the clock runs out, ending the 1st half.

Knowing the Cougars gained confidence with their last drive, LR looks to shut down the HF-L offense quickly and force a punt at the start of the 2nd half. Ian Humphrey drops the HF-L ball carrier for an 8-yard loss on 1st down. Jourdain Holly stops the pass completion for only one yard on 2nd down. Elmore shows his pass coverage ability, breaking up the pass on 3rd. Mike Humphrey fields his 4th punt for 19 yards, taking the ball to the HF-L 47.

After 2 Ian Humphrey runs gain 10 yards and a new set of downs, LR commits a holding penalty pushing the football back 10 yards. On 2nd-and-21 from the 48, Fenstermaker throws the ball long toward the HF-L end zone. The Cougar cornerback comes over and tips the pass, but incredible poise and concentration allows Mike Humphrey to catch the deflected ball for the LeRoy TD. The PAT fails, but LeRoy is up 13-0 just 3:38 into the 3rd quarter.

HF-L earns back-to-back runs of 34 and 20 to move the ball down to the LR 15-yard line. Josh Risewick made solo score-preventing tackles on both plays. Elmore, Ian Humphrey, Cosimeno, and Storms rise up, allowing only 3 yards on the next 3 Cougar plays. HF-L kicks a 29-yard FG to remove their goose egg from the scoreboard. It is now 13-3 in favor of the Knights.

HF-L fakes the onside kick, booting the ball deep to the LeRoy one. Ian Humphrey fields the ball, but is stopped at the 4. Ian promptly runs for 23 yards, giving the LeRoy offense some much needed breathing room. Needing a breather, Ian exits the game. Elmore and Cosimeno carry the ball the next 5 plays out to Cougar 47. Ian reenters the game and picks up 13 big yards. A holding penalty backs up the Knights 10 yards. Facing 3rd-and-14, Mike Humphrey makes another big play. Falling to the ground with great concentration, Mike catches a tipped pass for 31 yards to the HF-L 7. Ian runs it right in for the TD as well as the PAT to push the score to 21-3 in favor of the Knights. The scoring drive covered 96 yards in 13 plays.

On their next drive, HF-L reaches the Knights' 29 before Risewick breaks up the Cougar pass on 4th and 7. With 4:03 left in the game, LeRoy displays another smash-mouth drive. The offensive line provided excellent push as the visitors drove 71 yards in 9 plays for the score. Ian Humphrey carried 8 times for 65 yards, culminating in a 6-yard TD run. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT for a 28-3 LeRoy lead.

HF-L shows no quit and drives the ball in 5 plays for a TD. The HF-L QB is effective, going 3-of-4 for 59 yards. All 3 pass receptions went to the same wideout. The pass for the PAT fails. LR 28-9.

Ian Humphrey notched his final yardage total by virtue of his last score of the night, a beautiful 67-yard streak to the HF-L end zone. Fenstermaker added the PAT to make the final LeRoy 35, HF-L 9.

Just the remaining game with York on Thursday evening separates the Jr. Knights from a perfect 9-0 season. Be sure to brave the weather to watch the last 2005 game of this talented and entertaining squad.

The JV Knights hosted Avon on October 13th and it turned out to be a nice autumn evening in every sense of the word for the Jr. Knights.

Receiving the football first, LeRoy needed only 5 plays to travel 53 yards for the TD. Ian Humphrey rushes for 2 yards on the first play from scrimmage to reach 1,000 yards on the season. Four plays later Ian went into the end zone from the 3 to score. Travis Fenstermaker kicks the PAT, LR 7-0.

The Knights' defense forces a 3-and-out. On 4th down, Chris Andrews blocks the punt setting up the Knights 2nd drive start on the Avon 31. Following some fine blocking by the offensive line, Ian Humphrey completes the drive in just one play, darting in for the TD. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT, LR 14-0.

Avon picks up a 1st down on the next series converting a 4th-and-1. Greg Elmore stuffs the runner for a loss of 4 and Josh Risewick breaks up a pass attempt on 3rd down to force an Avon punt. Mike Humphrey fields the punt and returns the ball up the right sideline 31 yards to the Avon 37.

Due to penalties on the first 2 plays this drive lasted 3 plays as Ian Humphrey ran it in from 45 yards for the score. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT, LR 21-0.

Avon gets excellent field position at their 46 after a short kickoff. Facing 4th-and-4, the Braves' QB completes a 7-yarder to keep the chains moving. On 2nd down, Jamie Storms storms into the backfield and sacks the QB for an 8-yard loss. Kory Cosimeno nails the runner for a 2-yard loss, forcing the 3rd Avon punt.

The Knights start at their own 23 and Travis Fenstermaker leads a Tom Brady-like drive, going through the air exclusively. First Travis scrambles out of the pocket and hits Cosimeno for 19 yards. Next he throws a bubble screen to Mike Humphrey for 13. Two more completions to Mike Humphrey for 11 and 14 yards moves the ball down to the Avon 20. Travis then connects with Josh Risewick for a 20-yard TD pass. Fenstermaker is 5-for-5 on the drive for 77 yards in just 1:39. The PAT fails, LR 27-0.

The very first play of the Avon drive sees Cosimeno intercept the pass, returning it 12 yards to the Avon 23. Ian Humphrey picks up 5, then Greg Elmore drags defenders for 7 more. Ian takes it in from the 11 for the TD with 8:35 left in the 2nd, ending the day for the first-stringers. The PAT fails, LR 33-0.

Andrew Alexander ends the next Avon series intercepting the pass at midfield, but the Knights give the ball back on downs. Alexander intercepts a second pass to thwart the next series for the Braves. Starting on the Avon 45, LeRoy starts their final drive of the 1st half. Travis Hurd picks up 14 yards on 2 carries. Alexander picks up 6 and 10 down to the Avon 20. Two more carries by Hurd takes the ball to the 8. Enter John Scheuing. As time is winding down, Scheuing plows to the one and as time expires he plunges into the end zone. The PAT fails again and the half ends with the Jr. Knights ahead by a comfortable 39-0 margin.

Starting the 2nd half Avon returns the kickoff 82 yards for the touchdown. PAT fails, LR 39-6.

The 1st drive of the 2nd half for LeRoy started with 2 Hurd gains for 5. Alexander rips off 14 yards to move the chains. Alexander for 6, then Hurd gains 12 for another 1st down. Hurd for 3, Alexander picks up 12 for a first down to the Avon 15. Alexander for 1, then Steve Smith powers the ball to the 6, setting up a 3rd-and-1. Smith gains 2 for the apparent 1st down, but a holding call backs the ball to the 14. Facing 3rd-and-9, Mike Humphrey rolls to the right, hitting Brian Calmes at the 5, Brian shakes off the tackler, running in for the score. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT and the score reads LeRoy 46, Avon 6. The drive covered 11 plays and 62 yards.

Following an Avon 1st down, Jordan Casper stops the runner for no gain. Travis Pangrazio then sacks the QB for a loss of 12, setting up a long 3rd down. Mike Humphrey picks off the football, returning it 26 yards to the Avon 45.

Tyrone Wycoff becomes the featured LR runner in the subsequent series. Carrying the ball 4 straight times, Tyrone gains 8 yards, just short of a 1st down.

Now into the 4th quarter, Avon starts on their 37. On 3rd-and-5 Nathan Larson and Alex Cardenas string out the Avon runner for a one-yard loss. Facing 4th-and-6, the Avon receiver turns a 9-yard catch into a TD run for 59 yards. The pass for the PAT is successful, LR 46-14.

On LR`s next series Travis Hurd cuts to the left, speeding along for 64 yards before being caught at the one. Avon showing no quit, stops the Knights on 4 successive running plays, ending the LR drive at the one.

On the 1st play Avon completes a pass for 31 yards for some much needed breathing room. Larson and Wycoff chase down the Avon receiver or it would have been a much bigger gain. The Knights' defense then stiffens. Cardenas tips the pass at the line of scrimmage on 1st, Justin Pursel and Brock Pasquale drop the runner for a 2-yard loss on 2nd, Evan Calmes sacks the QB for a 4-yard loss on 3rd, and an incomplete pass on 4th down ends the final Avon series. LeRoy runs out the clock.

LeRoy improves to 7-0. Next up is a road trip to HF-L on October 20th. Last year HFL came into LeRoy undefeated and left with a loss. The Cougars will be looking for payback.

The JV Knights traveled to Dansville for a rare Wednesday game. The temperature topped the 80 degree mark on this beautiful October day. Team owner Don Pangrazio made sure there was lots of water and Gatorade on the sidelines for the Jr. Knights. After 2 big victories over Cal-Mum and Hornell it remained to be seen if Coach Brad Dietsch could keep the team focused and not suffer a letdown.

Kory Cosimeno returns the opening kickoff to the LR 45 for excellent field position. Greg Elmore opens up with a nice a 8-yard pickup. Ian Humphrey next gains 6 and 12 yards before Elmore collects 14. Not to be outdone, Humphrey picks up 14 taking the ball to the 1. Elmore smashes his way into the end zone. Travis Fenstermaker kicks the PAT. LR 7-0.

The Knights' defense forces a 3-and-out on the Mustang's first series as Jamie Storms, Josh Casper, and Travis Pangrazio register tackles. Mike Humphrey fields the punt, returning it 11 yards to the LR 44. On 1st down Fenstermaker passes for 18 to Mike Humphrey. Ian Humphrey carries for 10 and 6. On 2nd-and-4, Fenstermaker play-actions and finds Kory Cosimeno for the 22-yard TD. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT for 14-0 Knights lead.

A good kickoff pins the Mustangs at their own 6. The Dansville offense shows life, picking up two 1st downs before the drive stalls, forcing a punt. Starting at their own 36, the Knights' Ian Humphrey and Greg Elmore carry the ball 4 consecutive plays down to the Dansville 27 as the 1st quarter ends.

On the 1st play of the 2nd quarter, Travis Fenstermaker hits Kory Cosimeno for another TD, this time from 27 yards out. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT to make LR 21-0.

The LR defense forces another 3-and-out, giving the Knights a drive start at their own 46. Ian Humphrey rips off a 33-yard run to the 21. Three plays later Elmore runs in from the 14 for the LeRoy score to push the lead to 27-0 after the unsuccessful PAT.

Dansville finally hits paydirt on their 4th possession. Needing 9 plays, the Mustang QB throws a 24-yard
TD pass. The PAT kick is good to cut the LeRoy lead to 27-7. During the drive Dansville converts 3 third downs while the QB goes 3-for-3 for 49 yards.

LeRoy's next possession could be called the 'Humphrey' drive. Ian Humphrey receives the kickoff at the 20, returning it to midfield. After an incompletion, Ian dashes 24 yards. Very next play, Fenstermaker hooks up with wideout Mike Humphrey for a 26-yard TD pass. The PAT fails and the tally shows LeRoy up by a 33-7 margin.

Ryan Bishop's over-the-shoulder interception stops the Mustang drive right before halftime. Special teams come into play very early in the 2nd half. Kory Cosimeno blocks the punt and Chris Andrews
picks up the ball, advancing it to the Mustang 29. Unfortunately, the Knights fumble the ball right back.

The LR defense forces another 3-and-out as Andrews and Cosimeno register sacks on 2nd and 3rd
downs. Mike Humphrey returns the Dansville punt 36 yards down to the Dansville 6. Ian Humphrey immediately cashes in for the TD, ending his game participation for the day. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT and the score is now LeRoy 40, Dansville 7.

Starting on their 38, Dansville uses 15 plays to score. On the drive the Mustang QB scrambles on 3rd and 5 and 3rd and 13 to keep the drive alive. Then on 4th and 5 and 4th and 4 the QB completes passes to keep the chains moving for the locals. Dansville completes the drive with a 7-yard scoring pass. The PAT fails. LR 40-13. The Mustang QB rushed for 23 yards and was 4-of-6 passing for 33 yards during the drive.

On the ensuing kickoff the Knights fumble the ball giving the Mustangs excellent field position at the LeRoy 35. The Knights' defense holds on downs with John Kelso stuffing the runner on 3rd down and Travis Pangrazio very alertly reading a Dansville reverse and tackling the Mustang receiver for a 5-yard loss, ending the series.

Now into the 4th quarter, the Knights go 3-and-out, punting the ball down to the Dansville 13. The Mustangs respond in 5 plays, scoring on a 49-yard TD pass. The run for the PAT is good to make it LeRoy 40-21. The Dansville QB was 3-of-5 for 87 yards on the scoring drive.

LR again goes 3-and-out and punts. Chris Locke recovers a Dansville fumble, giving the Knights a short
field to work with at the Dansville 21. The Knights' Andrew Alexander is the featured back on the drive. Fine inside running by Drew is capped off with a 3-yard TD run. The PAT fails and the scoring ends with a 46-21 LeRoy victory.

Andrew Alexander comes up big on defense, intercepting the ball to end the last Dansville drive. Two Travis Hurd carries ends the contest.

LeRoy improves to 6-0. Next up is a Thursday home encounter against the Avon Braves.

After their come from behind victory over Cal-Mum, the JV Knights faced another top flight program from Hornell. Taking the field the LR squad was looking to break a 3-year losing streak against the Red Raiders. This game was close for just over a quarter before the Knights scored 21 points in 1:21 to put the game away. The defense came away with 4 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries to spur the victory. The 2nd half saw the Jr. Knights dominate the action as the Hornell squad could run only 11 plays for a total 2nd half possession of just 5 minutes.

For the first time all year LR won the coin toss and kicked off. The Red Raiders come out controlling the line of scrimmage. After a 35 yd run, Hornell has a 1st-and-10 at the LR 14. On 4th-and-5, LR's Chris Locke bats down the pass at the line of scrimmage. Five plays later the Knights fumble the ball away at their own 31 giving the Jr. Raiders excellent field position.

LR has many playmakers on this squad and Travis Fenstermaker intercepts the pass on 3rd down to end the Red Raider drive. On 2nd-and-7 Fenstermaker makes a Michael Vick-like run, scrambling out of the pocket for 42 yards down to the Raider 28. Ian Humphrey is stopped for losses on successive plays leading to 3rd-and-16. Stepping up was another playmaker as Mike Humphrey makes a diving 30 yd grab from Fenstermaker to keep the LR drive alive. Ian Humphrey punches in for the LR score from the 4. Fenstermaker kicks the extra point, making it 7-0 in favor of the locals.

Starting at the LR 36, Joe Carubia stops the Hornell runner, forcing the fumble. Fenstermaker picks up the loose ball and races in from the 34 for the TD. Travis kicks the extra point to put the Jr. Knights up by a tally of 14-0.

Special teams comes into play. LR's Steve Smith boots the ball down to the 10 and excellent coverage pins the Raiders at their 14. On first down Josh Casper recovers another Hornell fumble. On the very next play Ian Humphrey bursts up the middle for the 14 yd TD run. Fenstermaker kicks the extra point, making it 21-0 LeRoy. In little less than a minute and a half the Knights have put 21 points on the scoreboard through their
defense, offense, and special teams.

Later in the quarter, Hornell starts on their own 14. On 3rd-and-7 the Red Raiders completed a 63 yd pass play and Josh Risewick chases down the receiver, saving the touchdown. Facing a 4th-and-9 Jamie Storms very smartly reads the Hornell screen pass and showing receiver-like hands intercepts the pass, moving the ball 5 yds up the field.

Following a LR punt, Hornell starts their final drive of the first half at their 43. The Red Raiders drove to the LR 18 with 4 ticks left on the clock, but Fenstermaker ends the first half intercepting the Hornell pass.

LeRoy fumbled the ball away on their 2nd possession of the 3rd quarter, giving Hornell great field position at the 9. Another Knight playmaker steps up. Kory Cosimeno intercepts the Raider pass at the 6 and returns it 11 yds to the 17. The Knights drive 10 plays before giving the ball over on downs on their own 38. With excellent field position, the Red Raiders go 3-and-out, punting the ball down to the 10.

The Jr. Knights returned to its smashmouth style of football. After a QB sack, Greg Elmore bulls his way for 20 yds, giving LR some much needed breathing room. Following a LR penalty, Kory Cosimeno has runs of 7, 4, 30, and 13 yards, moving the ball to the Hornell 29. Elmore punishes the defense on the next 2 carries totaling 12 yds. Cosimeno's next carry gains 11 yds. Four plays later Elmore goes in from the one as time expires giving the Knights their final margin of victory 27-0. The drive took 14 plays, lasting the final 7:08 of the game. The offensive line of Joe Carubia, Jordan Casper, Chris Locke, Charlie Brandes, Jamie Storms along with receivers Josh Risewick, Mike Humphrey and Chris Andrews provided outstanding blocking on the drive.

The victory gives the JV Knights a 5-0 record. Next up is a Wednesday game in Dansville at 5:30 PM.

After three lopsided wins it remained to be seen how the Junior Knights would respond to adversity. Facing archrival and undefeated Cal-Mum this game resembled a heavyweight title fight. Unlike a wobbly Mike Tyson, the Knights got off the canvas, fighting for a heart thumping 21-14 victory.

Losing the coin toss for the 4th straight game, LR receives the ball first, going 3-and-out. After a fine punt return, CM starts at the LR 29. On 1st down going for it all, Josh Risewick intercepts the pass at the 7 ending the CM drive.

In poor field position, 3 straight running plays net 9 yds. On 4th and 1, Travis Fenstermaker punts the ball away. A very good CM punt return is negated by a penalty, but still puts the ball in LR territory at the 45.

CM kept the ball on the ground driving to the LR 13. Facing a 1st-and-10, the Knights defense stiffens holding the Red Raiders on downs at the 13. In particular, the LR secondary led by Josh Risewick and Mike Humphrey broke up passes on 3rd and 4th downs.

In poor field position again, LR goes 3-and-out and punts the ball away. Starting on LR's side of field at the 46, CM runners start to punish the Jr. Knights defense. Needing only 7 plays, CM's John Marozzi scores on a sweet 12 yd run. The run for PAT fails - CM 6-0. Marozzi picks up 35 yds on 4 attempts in the drive.

On their 4th possession starting at their own 29, LR loses 3 yds on the drive. Punting after another dismal 3-and-out, CM receives the ball at their 49.

Red Raider running backs are gaining strength, bouncing off Knight defenders picking up extra yards. Marozzi bulls up the middle for a 9 yd TD run to cap the drive. The run for the PAT is good - CM 14-0.

Gaining just 2 yds of total offense on 4 possessions of 3-and-out, the Knights were down for the count. But like all good boxers they rose off the canvas.

Ian Humphrey returned the kickoff to the LR 40, the best drive start of the game for the Knights. Facing a 2nd-and-14 LR QB Travis Fenstermaker completes a 11 yarder to Greg Elmore. Humphrey picks up 12 for the FD. After a LR penalty, Fenstermaker scrambles out of the pocket for 18 yds. Three plays later, facing a 4th-and-2, Ian picks up 2 tough yards to keep the LR drive alive. On 3rd-and-7 from the 15, Ian picks up 10 to the CM 5. Fenstermaker dives in from the one yd out for the LR score. Travis kicks the PAT and the CM lead is now 14-7. A classic LR drive: 60 yds in 13 plays using 6:22 off the clock.

Coming out for the 2nd half, the Knights defense needed to hold or come up with a turnover. On 3rd down Mike Humphrey intercepts the ball, returning it 13 yds to the CM 36.

Ian Humphrey carries the ball 6 straight plays to the CM 8. Needing a breather, Ian leaves the game and Kory Cosimeno picks up the final 8 yds on 2 rushes for the LeRoy TD,the last a 5 yarder. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT, and the game is tied at 14.

Starting from their own 49, CM's Marozzi rips off a 14-yarder. Mike Humphrey makes the tackle in the secondary, saving a possible CM TD. The next 3 plays Marozzi gains only 2 yds due to the fine tackling of Charlie Brandes, Jourdain Holly, Greg Elmore, and Ian Humphrey. Staring at a 4th-and-8 from the LR 35, the Red Raiders decide to go for it.
Chris Andrews recovers the CM fumble in the backfield to end the drive for the hosts.

Momentum has shifted to the Knights. After a 7 yd loss on 1st down, Ian Humphrey makes a spectacular 60 yd run, weaving in and out of defenders to the CM 11. A face mask penalty pushes the ball to the 6. On 4th-and-goal from the 1, Ian drags the CM defender into the end zone for the score. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT. The Knights take their first lead at 21-14 with 1:41 left in the 3rd.

On the ensuing kickoff, the LR kickoff team creates a turnover. Chris Andrews hits the CM runner, forcing the fumble. Fenstermaker pounces on the ball giving LR possession at the CM 42. A LR turnover gives the ball back 3 plays later. Just 2 plays later, Kory Cosimeno recovers a CM fumble to end the 3rd quarter.

Sensing a touchdown could put this game away, the CM defense rises to the occasion. Sacking
Fenstermaker on 2nd down gives the Knights a long 3rd-and-27. Following an Elmore run, LR punts the ball away.

After picking up just one first down the Red Raiders punt the ball back to the Knights. The Raider D again steps it up a notch to force a LR punt and one more drive for a potential game-winning drive.

The Raiders start at their own 45 with 4:00 left. Marozzi converts a 3rd-and-2 2 for a 7-yarder to put the ball at the LR 40. After a run of 2 yds, a costly LR face mask penalty takes the ball to the 23. On 2nd down CM completes the pass and LR's Mike Humphrey makes the tackle at the 6, preventing the Raider TD.

1:41 remaining - CM has 1st and goal at the 6. Greg Elmore stops the CM runner after a gain of 2.
On 2nd down, Joe Carubia and Josh Risewick make the stop after another gain of 2. CM calls their final timeout with 47 seconds remaining in the game. Third down sees Elmore and Andrews hold the runner to a 1 yd gain, forcing the CM offense to hurry to the line of scrimmage. The Raider QB spots his receiver open in the end zone, but Josh Risewick closes fast and breaks up the pass, ending the drive.

LeRoy now stands at 4-0. Next up is a home encounter on Sept. 29th against always tough Hornell.

On Sept. 15th the JV Knights made their first road trip of the season to Saunders Field in Livonia. Following a 300 yd performance the previous week, would LR's Ian Humphrey have a letdown? Could the team score at least 30 points again? Can this team keep playing at a high level? Well, the Jr. Oatkan Knights put up 41 points in the first half and cruised to the 41-0 victory. As for Ian Humphrey, he again had a stellar game, rushing for 198 yds.

For the 3rd straight week LR loses the coin toss and receives the ball first. The Knights need only 3 plays to score. It is Ian running it in from 31 yds out. Travis Fenstermaker kicks the extra point. LR 7-0.

On the ensuing kickoff Greg Elmore strips the ball from the Livonia kick returner and races 36 yds for the score. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT. LR 14-0.

On the Knights 2nd possession Elmore shows fine receiving skills, catching the ball out of the backfield for 25 yds. To close out this drive Ian runs the final 38 yds for the score. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT for a 21-0 LR lead.

After an exchange of turnovers, Livonia is forced to punt. Just as in the previous week, the Bulldogs touch the punted ball thinking it was blown dead, but again Ian alertly picks up the ball and dashes 59 yds for the LR TD. Fenstermaker makes it 4-for-4 in PATS. LR 28-0. Mind you, there is still 3:50 left in the 1st quarter.

LR's next possession results in yet another, requiring 12 plays. Travis Fenstermaker is 3-for- passing for 52 yds, throwing a 40 yarder to Mike Humphrey for the score. PAT is no good. LR 34-0.

Livonia manages to drive to the LR 41. Facing a 3rd-and-2, the Knights defense stiffens as Elmore and then Ian Humphrey tackle the Bulldog runners for consecutive 3 yd losses ending the drive.

With 5:09 left in the 1st half, the Knights mount their last drive of the half. Kory Cosimeno is the featured back, carrying the ball 6 times for 32 yds. Kory bulls in from 3 yds out for the score with 11 ticks left on the clock. Fenstermaker kicks the PAT for a LR 41-0 halftime lead.

Livonia comes out for the 2nd half and drives 14 plays to the LR 6. Facing a 4th-and-3, Josh Risewick breaks up the pass in the end zone ending the Bulldog drive. Later in the quarter, Ben Hilton pounces on a fumble to end another Livonia drive. Both teams trade drives to end the game. Travis Hurd and Mike Humphrey become the primary ball carriers in the second half as LeRoy gets all of their players into the game.

Next up is arch-rival Cal-Mum next Thursday evening away in Caledonia.

On another beautiful fall Saturday morning, the Jr. Knights hosted the Bath Rams. This game would belong to Ian Humphrey, rushing for 300 yards on just 12 carries scoring 7 TDs. One of the 7 TDs included a 59 yd punt return for a TD. This was definitely a game Ian will be able to tell his kids and grandkids about years from now. Not to be lost was the notion that Kory Cosimeno rushed for 106 yds.

First play for LeRoy, Ian scampers 65 yds for a TD. Travis Fenstermaker to Chris Andrews for the PAT gives LR a 8-0 lead.

Following a Bath turnover, Ian finishes a 5-play drive going in from the 14. PAT no good. LR 14-0.

Forcing a 3-and-out, the Rams punt the ball, but only touch the ball thinking they had downed it. Very alertly Ian picks up the ball and races down the sideline for a 54 yd punt return for a TD. Kick is good. LR 20-0.

Bath is stopped again and the punter kicks the ball into his own teammates back. Andrews picks up the loose ball, returning it 15 yds to the LR 25. Two plays later, Ian runs it in from the 7 for his 4th TD of the game. Kick is good, LR 27-0. There is still 1:20 left in the 1st quarter.

After another 3-and-out, Bath punts the ball. Needing only one play, Ian runs 70 yds for the TD. Kick no good, LR 33-0.

After another Bath turnover, LR takes 2 plays to score. Ian darts in from 36 yds out and with the PAT good, the Knights lead 40-0. Ian has 5 rushing touchdowns at this point of the game.

Right before halftime Bath scores on 56 yd run. Kick good, LR 40-7.

Taking the opening kickoff of the 2nd half, Bath uses 3 plays to score, capped off by a 49 yd run. Kick fails, LR 40-13.

Ian quickly answers in one play from 54 yds out. Kick no good. LR 46-13.

Following a Bath punt, Ian carries one more time for 2 yds before leaving the game for good with 8:39 left in the 3rd quarter. Two plays later, Kory Cosimeno races down the sideline for 83 yds and the TD. Kick no good, giving the Knights a 52-13 lead, the final margin of victory.

Several fine performances turned in for the final quarter and half by Travis Hurd carrying the ball 17 times, John Kelso and Justin Pursel recovering fumbles, plus Don Pangrazio and Mike Humphrey intercepting passes.

The LeRoy JVs opened the season on a bright sunny autumn morning determined to duplicate the Varsity's outcome from the night before. BEAT BATAVIA.

Ian Humphrey took the opening kickoff for 23 yds to the LR 43. A late hit out of bounds tacks on another 15 and LR starts on the Batavia 42. I. Humphrey carries all 4 times in the drive, culminating in a 27 yd run. Pass fails for PAT and LR leads 6-0.

Jamie Storms stuffs the Batavia runner for a 3 yd loss on the first play of Devils' drive. Three-and- out and LR gets the ball back. Starting at their own 11, 3 consecutive runs by Ian moves the ball to the 31. Greg Elmore gets into the picture, pounding the ball for a gain of 9. QB Travis Fenstermaker shows off his arm, completing a pass of 21 yds to Kory Cosimeno. After moving down the field, the Knights are faced with a 3rd-and-goal from the 14. Fenstermaker completes a TD pass to Josh Risewick. Ian runs in the PAT for a LR 14-0 lead. The drive took 17 plays, but there were 3 LR penalties.

Batavia goes 3-and-out again. Jourdain Holly stuffs the runner for a 1 yd loss on 3rd down. Mike Humphrey's 25 yd punt return gives LR excellent field position at the Blue Devils 47. Taking 10 plays, LR scores to go up 20-0. The pass for the PAT fails. Key plays on the drive:4th and 5 from the 28 - Fenstermaker completes a 10 yarder to Josh Risewick and 4th and 7 from the 15 - Travis throws a 15 yd strike to Mike Humphrey for the TD. Six different players touched the ball in this drive.

Batavia's 3rd series did not fare much better, and again the Devils go 3-and-out. Big plays for the Knights defense were Charlie Brandes stuffing the runner for a 1 yd loss and Chris Andrews sacking the QB on 3rd down for a loss of 9. Mike Humphrey returns the punt for a gain of 12 yds.

Ian Humphrey immediately rips off a run for 20. Several plays later, Travis completes a pass for 14 yds to Greg Elmore down to the 11. The Batavia defense stiffens, throwing Ian for a 9 yd loss and then sacking Travis for 7. Facing a 4th-and-26 Travis throws an incomplete pass into the end zone. The first half ends with Batavia taking a knee.

Starting the 3rd quarter, Batavia is faced with a 4th-and-one at their own 39. Greg Elmore blocks the punt and Chris Andrews falls on the ball giving the Knights excellent field position on the 33.

Seven plays later, Fenstermaker goes over from the one to score. The kick for the PAT failed. LR 26-0.
During the drive Ian Humphrey carried 4 times for 17 yds, including a 11 yd pickup to the one and Greg Elmore notched 2 carries for 10 yds total.

Batavia's next drive starts off promising with a completion for 5, but Ian sacks the QB on consecutive downs forcing a punt. Mike H. again fields the punt for a gain of 7. Two straight Elmore runs produce a 1st down. After a loss on 1st, Travis completes a screen pass to Ian for a 25 yd scamper. Elmore then shows good speed to go along with power for a 30 yd TD run. The Kick fails for a LR 32-0 lead in the 4th.

Batavia has 2 more possessions in the 4th quarter, but would not pick up a first down and be forced to punt. Several different LR players made appearances in final stanza, such as Travis Hurd 8 attempts 19 yds, John Scheuing 1-3, and Andrew Alexander 2-1. Jordan Kosiorek and Alex Cardenas stopped the Batavia runner for a loss of 5. Ben Hilton, Justin Pursel, Travis Pangrazio, and Joe Schwab were all credited with tackles and fine play.
