Williams utilized its explosive offense en route to a 27-0 halftime lead. The Ephs
accumulated 366 of its season-high 549 yards of total offense in the opening 30 minutes.

Lucey threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first half, staring with a 74-yarder
to senior wide receiver Brendan Fulmer ten minutes into the game. With the score, Fulmer
extends his career TD receptions record to 18, and also tied a single-season record with 8.

In last year's season finale against Amherst, Fulmer sustained a serious injury, forcing
him to exit the game early. This afternoon, Fulmer dominated the deep field, grabbing 4
passes for 190 yards.

"Last year was pretty disappointing in that respect," Fulmer said. "Coming into today's
game, I kind of had it in my head that today was going to be the biggest game I was going
to have. I wanted to show them what I really had."

Fulmer's touchdown came towards the end of a frustrating first quarter for the Ephs, as
they had control of the ball for just three minutes of the opening 15.

With the win, Williams improves to 7-0 on the season, while Wesleyan drops to 3-4.
Wesleyan dropped a 23-0 decision to Amherst two weekends ago, setting up a Little
Three Championship game between the Ephs and the Lord Jeffs next weekend at Amherst.
“We really didn’t worry about looking past today,” senior wide receiver Brendan Fulmer
said. “Yeah, Amherst is up next, but Wesleyan is a big game, too. It’s pretty important
around here. Everyone was fired up about this one, so we’ll worry about Amherst tomorrow.”
Fulmer pulled in four passes this afternoon for 60 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown
makes Fulmer the lone holder of the all-time Williams record for career TD receptions,
with 17. “Records don’t really mean a whole lot to me because someone else will come
along and break the record in a few years, or at least I hope so,” Fulmer said. “It’s
nice to be remembered for a couple years, but I don’t worry about that too much. It’s a
lot more fun to put up 42 points in the first half of our last home game, and with
[senior tight end Jim] O’Leary and [senior wide receiver Jon] Drenckhahn both getting
touchdowns today, too.”

Just outside the red zone, Lucey hit Fulmer on a lateral, who then found fellow receiver
Drenckhahn streaking down the left side of the field for a 23-yard touchdown throw. “That
play was completely Fulmer and Drenckhahn improvising,” head coach Mike Whalen said. “That
play was supposed to go to the running back, but it was pretty clear he was covered. The
play ended up being two veteran kids that didn’t give up when something went wrong. They
looked to make the play. When the ball’s in Fulmer’s hands and he's throwing to Drenckhahn,
something good is going to happen.
